England manager Thomas Tuchel has been reacting to the news around Ange Postecoglou.

Tottenham Hotspur announced they'd sacked the Australian on Friday after long consultation and reflection.

The Spurs board deemed the Europa League win not enough for Postecoglou to keep his job.

And Tuchel has a lot of sympathy for him.

He said: “I have the biggest respect for him.

"I feel for every manager, and have huge sympathy, especially in this spot (being sacked) I was in the same spot and it was horrible.”

After it was confirmed by Tottenham Hotspur that Ange Postecoglou has been sacked, the Australian has released a heartfelt statement.

Postecoglou joined Spurs two years ago on this exact day from Celtic, and he helped the club win the Europa League, ending their trophy drought.

But after 22 defeats in the Premier League, he has been sacked.

Here it is the news we've been expecting, Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Ange Postecoglou has been sacked.

In a statement on the website, they said: "Following a review of performances and after significant reflection, the Club can announce that Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties.

"Ange joined us from Celtic in the summer of 2023 and oversaw a period of change on the pitch, returning us to the attacking brand of football that has traditionally been associated with the Club, while writing a new chapter in our history by leading us to UEFA Europa League glory in Bilbao last month - an achievement that will live with us all forever.

"We are extremely grateful to Ange for his commitment and contribution during his two years at the Club.

Following a positive start in the 2023/24 Premier League (PL) season, we recorded 78 points from the last 66 PL games.

Whilst winning the Europa League this season ranks as one of the Club’s greatest moments, we cannot base our decision on emotions aligned to this triumph.

"It is crucial that we are able to compete on multiple fronts and believe a change of approach will give us the strongest chance for the coming season and beyond.

We wish him well for the future - he will always be welcome back at our home.

"News on the appointment of a new Head Coach will be announced in due course."

Omari Kellyman won't be a part of Chelsea's travelling squad to the Club World Cup, talkSPORT understands.

Instead, the 19-year-old is expected to remain at Cobham as he continues his return to full fitness.

Once the teen is back up and running, Kellyman is poised to join a Championship club on loan.

Since his £17million move from Aston Villa last summer, Kellyman has struggled for fitness at Stamford Bridge.

After he played in the first two fixtures for Chelsea in the Premier League 2, Kellyman picked up a hamstring injury last September.

Kellyman made his return in March but managed just two appearances before his season came to a premature end.

The 19-year-old also has only six senior appearances under his belt, all of which came at Villa during the 2023/24 campaign.

Their first offer of £45 million, plus £10m in add-ons was rejected.

Crystal Palace are reportedly drawing up a succession plan for skipper Marc Guehi.

The centre-back is about to enter the final year of his contract and the Eagles are braced for a swarm of interest in Guehi throughout the summer.

It now seems Palace may have settled on a potential Guehi replacement.

According to The Telegraph, the club has explored a deal for Sporting defender Ousmane Diomande.

The 21-year-old is regarded as a serious talent and the report claims several of the Premier League's biggest teams have watched him in action.

Diomande has two years left on his contract with Sporting.

Arsenal have stepped up their interest in RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko, talkSPORT understands.

The Gunners have opened talks with Leipzig after prioritising Sesko over Viktor Gyokeres.

It is still possible Arsenal move for Gyokeres if hey fail to agree a deal for Sesko.

Gyokeres is high on Manchester United's list of targets.

The Gunners have long been interested in the Slovenia international, making tentative enquiries in January over a move that failed to materialise.

It's not hard to see why given his strong goalscoring exploits at age 22.

Sesko has scored an impressive 39 goals across all competitions for Leipzig since he joined in July 2023.

In the 2024/25 Bundesliga campaign, Sesko scored 13 times as Leipzig finished a disappointing seventh.

Manchester United chief executive Omar Berrada has laid down the gauntlet for Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim as the club released their third quarter fiscal results.

The club's total revenue was £160.5million, an improvement from the £136.7m they made from the same period in 2024.

United's three key revenue streams, matchday, commercial and broadcast, all enjoyed increases.

Wages were also reduced to £71.2m, a decrease of £20m from the year prior as a result of no Champions League football, January sales as well as the mass redundancies.

“We were proud to reach the final of the UEFA Europa League,
but ultimately, we were disappointed to finish as runner-up in Bilbao," Berrada said.

"We had a difficult season in the Premier League, which we all know fell below our standards and we have a clear expectation of improvement next season."

Newcastle United are reportedly set to open contract talks with star striker Alexander Isak in July.

The Toon star has three years left on his deal at St James' Park and had drawn attention from Liverpool and Arsenal, but that interest has died off with the Magpies looking for a Premier League record fee.

The Toon also secured Champions League football for next season and the Daily Telegraph report Newcastle will look at extending Isak's deal.

The Swede arrived on Tyneside in the summer of 2022 from Real Sociedad for a club-record £63 million, and he has scored 63 goals in 109 appearances.

Isak revealed earlier in the year that he wasn't thinking about his future, but it would be a huge boost for Eddie Howe if they could get him to commit to the club.

Grealish expects to leave City this summer after being left on the bench for their FA Cup final defeat to Crystal Palace and his pending omission from the Club World Cup squad.

Grealish has won eight trophies in City colours since his £100m move from Aston Villa.

Well, hopefully not for the player and his potential next club.

talkSPORT understands Demarai Gray is looking to return to England from Saudi Arabia.

Gray's club Al-Ettifaq are willing to sell the Jamaican international for £8million.

Championship side Birmingham City are understood to have made an enquiry while newly-promoted Sunderland hold an interest in Gray dating back to January.

Serie A outfit Fiorentina have also asked about a loan deal for Gray.

A move to Birmingham would mark an emotional return to where Gray's career began.

The 28-year-old came through the academy at the Blues and made just shy of 80 appearances for the club before Leicester City triggered his release clause in January 2016.

Gray went on to play for Bayer Leverkusen and Everton before he was convinced by then-boss Steven Gerrard to join Al-Ettifaq in September 2023.

Napoli boss Antonio Conte could raid one of his former clubs.

The Telegraph reports Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah is 'attracting interest' from the newly-crowned Serie A champions.

Chalobah spent the first half of the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Crystal Palace before he was recalled by Chelsea in January.

The 25-year-old's performances were impressive enough to see him earn his first call-up to the senior England squad ahead of the upcoming fixtures against Andorra and Senegal.

However, with Wesley Fofana set to return as the starting centre-back option alongside Levi Colwill, Chalobah faces an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge.

A key factor for Chalobah will be whether regular first-team football is a major requirement of Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel ahead of next year's FIFA World Cup.

Chalobah never played for Conte during the Italian's stint at Chelsea, although he was named on the bench for the 2018 FA Cup final, which was the latter's last game in charge of the Blues.

Manchester United are ready to make a second offer for Brentford superstar Bryan Mbeumo after their bid of £45million, plus £10m in add-ons, was rejected, talkSPORT understands.

The Bees are believed to be holding out for a fee of £60m, pointing to the £62.5m United are shelling out to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves.

Mbeumo is understood to have already given his approval over a summer switch to Old Trafford, but the Red Devils must now return to the table with an improved bid if the winger is to realise his dream.

United are also prepared to meet Mbeumo's mammoth wage demands to join the club.

The Cameroon international wants £250,000 to sign on the dotted line, which is a five-time increase on his current Brentford wage.

Mbeumo recently enjoyed the most productive season of his career to date to help Brentford seal tenth spot in the top-flight.

Featuring in all of the west London outfit's 38 Premier League matches, he chipped in with 20 goals and seven assists.

Only Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak and Erling Haaland scored more goals in the division than the ex-Troyes man.

Liverpool have announced the departure of seven players.

Dominic Corness, Louis Enahoro-Marcus, Harry Evers, Lee Jonas, Jakub Ojrzynski, Jacob Poytress and Reece Trueman will all depart upon the expiration of their contracts.

The Reds also confirmed they have offered new deals to Kareem Ahmed, Emmanuel Airoboma, Keyrol Figueroa, Kyle Kelly, Michael Laffey, Wellity Lucky, Terence Miles and Ranel Young.

Figueroa is perhaps the most notable name of the bunch given he is the son of former Wigan and Hull full-back, Maynor.

The elder Figueroa has over 200 Premier League appearances to his name and was a member of the triumphant Latics side that stunned Manchester City to win the 2013 FA Cup.

England international Angel Gomes is joining Marseille on a free transfer after rejecting Premier League interest, talkSPORT understands.

Tottenham had been hopeful of signing Gomes, whose Lille contract expires this month.

The former Manchester United youngster also held talks with West Ham.

Gomes will join Marseille after four years and over 130 appearances with Lille.

The 24-year-old's form for Lille did not go unnoticed by former interim England boss Lee Carsley, as he made four senior international appearances last season.

Gomes joins a Marseille side outfit that finished second in Ligue 1 and will compete in next season's Champions League.

Aaron Ramsey is the front-runner to take over as Cardiff City manager, talkSPORT understands.

The 34-year-old' s contract as a player is due to expire in the summer.

But the Bluebirds are set to keep him on, but in a coaching capacity.

Ramsey featured just 11 times in the 2024/25 season as recurring hamstrings kept him on the sideline for prolonged periods.

He also stepped up as caretaker boss for Cardiff's final three games of the season after they sacked Omar Riza.

Sadly, he was unable to inspire a miracle as Cardiff were relegated to League One.

Ramsey's prospective appointment comes after Cardiff's reported top target, Nathan Jones, penned a five-year extension to remain with Championship side Charlton Athletic.

Fulham fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

Cottagers boss Marco Silva had reportedly been a target to replace Simone Inzaghi as Inter Milan boss after he took up a big-money deal to manage Al-Hilal.

But it now appears the Italian giants are on the brink of appointing Christian Chivu as Inzaghi's replacement, according to multiple reports.

Chivu made over 150 appearances for Inter as a player.

However, he has just 13 games under his belt as a manager, with all of those coming at Serie A side Parma.

From those 13 games, Chivu finished with a record of three wins, seven draws and three defeats.

Prior to being appointed as Parma boss, Chivu coached several of Inter's youth teams from 2018 through to June 2024.

A number of Premier League stars have been named in Lee Carsley's England Under-21 squad ahead of this summer's Euro Under-21 tournament.

Tino Livramento and Jarell Quansah will be expected to play key roles in the defensive unit as they made the cut.

So too is Sunderland standout Jobe Bellingham and Nottingham Forest dynamo Elliott Anderson, who enjoyed a breakout season en route to the club reaching the Conference League.

However, there is no Liam Delap as he will join Chelsea for the upcoming Club World Cup.

England go into the tournament as the defending champions having won the 2023 edition with a thrilling 1-0 over Spain.

The likes of Cole Palmer, Anthony Gordon, Morgan Gibbs-White and Levi Colwill were all in action in that game, so there's every chance the next generation of English standouts will be in action at the tournament.

Here's the squad in full.

Goalkeepers: James Beadle, Teddy Sharman-Lowe, Tommy Simkin

Defenders: Charlie Cresswell, Ronnie Edwards, CJ Egan-Riley, Tino Livramento, Brooke Norton-Cuffy, Jarell Quansah

Midfielders: Elliott Anderson, Jobe Bellingham, Archie Gray, Hayden Hackney, Jack Hinshelwood, James McAtee, Tyler Morton, Alex Scott

Forwards: Harvey Elliott, Omari Hutchinson, Sam Iling Junior, Ethan Nwaneri, Jonathan Rowe, Jay Stansfield

Arsenal fans, rejoice.

Star defender Gabriel Magalhaes has penned a new contract to stay with Arsenal until 2029.

The 27-year-old first arrived at the Emirates in September 2020 and has become a vital member of the team.

He's made over 200 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners and has 20 goals to his name.

Gabriel also boasts a highly impressive record of 57 clean sheets from 160 Premier League appearances as he and William Saliba have developed into one of the top flight's best centre-back pairings.

Unfortunately his 2024/25 campaign came to an early end after he picked up a hamstring injury in a 2-1 victory over Fulham last April.

Crystal Palace's dreams of competing in the Europa League remain in doubt, talkSPORT understands.

As first reported by The Guardian, UEFA have rejected offers from Palace shareholders John Textor and David Blitzer to place their shares in the club into a blind trust so the team can play in the continental tournament.

The key reason why this has become an issue is because Textor is Palace's largest shareholder and also the majority owner of French club Lyon, who will also compete in next season's Europa League.

The rules of European football's governing body stipulate no individuals can be involved in any capacity for more than one club competing in a UEFA club competition.

The report adds a team of Palace executives, including Textor and club chairman Steve Parish, held discussions with UEFA executives on Tuesday to find a resolution, but it has not been forthcoming.

Textor's floated blind trust was also rejected by UEFA because the club missed the deadline for registering the trust.

This saga is certainly be one to watch over the coming weeks.
